IDEA Full Funding Legislation Co-sponsors Needed
Urge Your Member of Congress to Increase IDEA Funding
Recently, H.R.3578, the Everyone Deserves Unconditional Access to Education (EDUCATE) Act, was introduced by Representatives Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Todd Platts (R-PA) and Tim Walz (D-MN). The EDUCATE Act would require regular increases in IDEA spending to fulfill the Federal government's commitment to pay for 40 percent of the cost of educating special needs students by 2015. While the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA/Stimulus) included a temporary infusion of funding for special education, H.R.3758 would make sure that schools and states have a regular, reliable source of IDEA funds.
